“The Promise”

I found some scribbles on a legal yellow note pad that had almost all of this song in its entirety. Dave had been penning some thoughts about Teresa and some of her last moments with him here on earth. The song consisted of some of the last conversations she and Dave had, and certain things that he remembered that she had wanted him and the kids to do when she was gone. Dave’s images and wording were beautiful. I started to add a bit here and there, and he asked if I wanted to be on the song. I declined at first, and then he said I should be in on it. We worked on the song a bit more, and this beautiful sad song is the result. It tears people up, and makes even some of the toughest critics cry. It is such an emotional heartfelt song, and I feel honored that Dave allowed me to be a co-writer with him.
